So we were watching some movie in my living room and they had the trailer to "Iron Man." There is a part in it when he builds his first armor and he batters this thick metal doors off the hinges; he comes out in his makeshift armor and the bad guys go something like: "Oh my God, what is that?" (I don't remember it word for word,) and the prelude to Black Sabbath's Iron Man comes on (you know, the one with the distorted spoken part where Ozzy says: "I am Iron Man") and he destroys the bad guys and then they skip to some other part and the main riff of the song comes on.
Now, I do not go to the movies much anymore because even though most NYC theaters advertise Dolby or THX or something, their sound usually sucks. My home theater is
WAYYYY superior! But, I turned to my wife all excited and said: "We have to see this movie tomorrow!" "I want to see the audience's reaction and especially the younger kids who may not have heard this song before! I bet the entire theater will be on its feet cheering."
So we did; the next day we went to see it. And I watched and waited, and waited, and waited ... Imagine how disappointed I was when the movie ended and the song was not in it at all; I am not sure what they were thinking when they played about 10 seconds of the non-riff instrumental middle of "Iron Man" over the credits.
If I was any of the Sabbath guys who wrote this, I would find out and sue the shit out of whomever made this stupid decision.
There is supposed to be a law about
"Truth in Advertising" and I think it should be applied here.
